ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED! YOU CANNOT ENTER THIS CONTEST RIGHT NOW
“Draw My OCs & Fanfic Scenes & Settings” Contest
Hello! I am running a contest with a first prize of 4000 DeviantArt points, and a total prize pool of 8000 DeviantArt points (and as many llamas as I can give away). The rules of the contest are given in detail below – they sound a little formal etc. but I didn't want to leave anything in a confused manner.
This is a contest to create art of my Judge Dredd OCs and fanfic scenes and settings. You can enter as many times as you like, with any sort of visual art (drawing, painting, digital, photomanipulation, whatever). There will be a prize for ALL qualifying entries. The winners will be determined by public vote (a poll).
Here are the dates for the competition;
Entries are accepted from …. right now!
Last date for entries : July 31st 2016
Voting closes : August 31st 2016 (voting runs during August)
Each entry should be a piece of art depicting something – a character, a scene, a setting, a piece of technology, a landscape . . . anything! - from my Judge Dredd fanfic. These fanfics are posted in my gallery and on my fanfiction.net page;
The stories themselves are in my gallery, together with a whole bunch of inspiration pictures, commissioned work, photomanipulations etc. describing the characters.
You probably don't need to read a huge amount of stuff to enter this - most people who have produced art for me already have done so from my inspiration sheets, photomanips and descriptions etc.
Entries should reflect my setting, characters and stories, and should not merely be generic pictures. Any style or format is welcomed. They can be character studies or reference sheets, sketches, comic sequences, imaginative pieces, anything you wish and are inspired to create.
You will retain ownership of you art and will be given credit. The art will be posted in my gallery. All qualifying entries (which is ALL entries except those I deem insulting, inappropriate or totally irrelevant to the subject) will receive a portion of the prize fund, and a llama. The winning entry will receive half the prize pool (4000 DeviantArt points) … and a llama.
Individuals can enter as many times as they like, increasing their chances of winning, and will receive prizes for each entry.
Entries & Participants
All participants must be members of DeviantArt. Entries must conform to the description above. Each entry must be posted in the Deviant's gallery. Entries must be the Deviant's own work (collaborations are permitted, but the entry will be assigned to whoever's gallery it is posted in – any prize will be given to that participant).
When posting to the gallery, the Deviant should clearly mark in the description the Deviation is an entry for this competition (linking to this post or my Journal entry), and tag me in there so I am aware of it. A Note can also be sent to me.
Posting a Deviation in a gallery marked as being for this competition is deemed to be an entry for the competition.
I reserve the right to disqualify any entries on grounds including, but not limited to, obscene or inappropriate content, irrelevance to the subject, personal insults etc. If an entry is disqualified, it will not be presented in the poll and will not be displayed in my gallery.
Entries will be gathered together into a poll at the end of the submission period (see “voting” below).
Deviants retain ownership of the entries to the competition, and enjoy all rights regarding sale, ownership etc. I retain ownership of the design of any original characters depicted in the images. By entering the competition, participants allow me to post images in my gallery with attribution in perpetuity. No additional rights (of ownership, sale, modification etc.) are transferred to me – any such rights (for example; right to use the art in derivative works, to color lineart, to make modifications etc.) would be negotiated separately after the contest.
Once entries are closed, I shall create a poll. It will be an open poll – any Deviant can (and should!) vote for their favorite piece of art from the entries. Each Deviant receives a single vote. Attempts to circumvent this, make multiple votes etc. are forbidden.
Entrants are expected to vote for their OWN entry; if people have made multiple entries, they should vote for their favorite / the one they are most proud of. This “voting for yourself” is why the prize-giving is so weighted (see below); this method prevents Deviants from entering some half-hearted entry merely to get a prize – you have to get someone else to vote for your item as well to be in serious contention and get a larger prize.
The winner is the entry with the most votes, with other entries ordered after it. In the case of entries getting the same number of votes, I will determine the final order.
I reserve the right to, if there is evidence of vote manipulation etc. to correct the tally. My decision is final.
A total of 8000 DeviantArt Points (a total $100 value) and many llamas will be given out as prizes. Prizes will be given within a week (7 days) of voting closing. If a prize cannot be given to a particular participant (for example; because of the recipient's DeviantArt account having been closed, technical difficulties with the points system etc.) then all efforts will be made to give the points to the account or person who the participant desires.
The number of points given to each participant will be based on the position their entry(ies) enjoy after voting;
The participant whose entry is the overall winner (as determined by the voting procedure above) will get half of the pot (4000 DeviantArt Points) and a llama (unless I have already given that participant a llama before).
The remaining prize pool will be split among the creators of the remaining entries, given proportionately based on position and number of votes. Each entry will receive a number of “shares” of the remaining prize pool;
Entries which garnered less than TWO votes (see voting procedure above) will receive one-half share and a llama (unless I have already given that participant a llama before).
The lowest-placing entry which received two or more votes (see voting procedure above) will receive one share. The next will receive two shares, the one after that three shares and so forth. All entries will receive a llama (unless I have already given that participant a llama before).
Note that an individual participant may make as many entries as he wishes, and will receive prizes for them all. Of course, the more entries in the competition, the more people to divide prizes among! But I do not think there will be so many entries it becomes worthless to enter.
The calculation method for prizes may seem a little complicated, but it is designed so everyone is rewarded and those whose art is recognized by the community as the best receive the better rewards.
